The healing power of herbal teas

We’ve put together a list of the most effective herbal teas to boost your physical and emotional well-being.

Nature provides a tremendous variety of plants that help detox the body, prevent infections and replenish energy.

Drinking one of these herbal teas is also a great excuse to relax or grab a cuppa in good company.

The best herbal teas for your health

  1. Chamomile. It helps prevent digestive upset, and also relaxes and promotes sleep. It can also treat diarrhoea and stomach ulcers. Use about 6 flowers per cup.
  1. Mint. It adds aromatic, refreshing, digestive and relaxing qualities to any herbal tea. Pair it with green tea and lemon.
  1. Ginger. Its digestive, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic benefits have been shown to effectively relieve nausea and menstrual pain.
  1. Echinacea. This is a traditional remedy that (people say) helps to prevent and curb colds. It can also stimulate the immune system, which can help fight infections.
  1. Lemon. Citric and malic acids make it great for the digestion and the liver (and it helps fight gas). Lemon balm tea can boost antioxidant enzymes.
  1. Passionflower. It’s one of the best remedies for calming nerves. It has calming and soothing benefits that help with sleep, anxiety and migraine relief.
  1. Green tea. It’s rich in polyphenols and catechins, natural antioxidants that can help prevent cell damage and reduce inflammation.

Most herbal treatments are not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult a doctor before drinking herbal tea.
