Real Food (or food Granny would make)

Real Food (or food Granny would make)

Put your apron on and take out the classic recipe book

Real Food is not just another fashionable food trend, it’s a lifestyle that avoids the consumption of processed foods and defends traditional food that, as has been proven, improves our health.

The 4 basic presmises of a realfooder

  1. Recover traditional eating habits. Spend more time in the kitchen, prepare different recipes and cook with traditional techniques (boil, poach, sautée, steam or bake).
  2. More natural foods. Include foods that keep their innate properties. For this, buy more seasonal and km0 products and increase fresh foods, prioritising fruit and vegetables. Remember that half of your plate should be vegetables.
  3. Choose healthy processed options. 90% of your menus must be based on real food or minimally processed foods (such as milk, extra virgin olive oil, whole grains, canned pulses, yoghurts, cheese or chocolate over 70%).
  4. Forget about ultraprocessed foods. As well as not looking anything like their original form, they are full of sugars, flours and refined oils. They are camouflaged in juices, biscuits, energy bars, instant soups, prepared pizzas… For this reason, the less ultraprocessed foods you eat, the better for your health.

“A realfooder experiences and senses real food to the extent that their body calls out for it and enjoys it”, Carlos Ríos, nutritionist and creator of the Realfooding movement.
